    Applied Memetics LLC (AM LLC) is looking for a Program/Security Analyst. The successful candidate will be working with security analysts to ensure data protection and system access are properly deployed.  This postion is located in Chantilly, VA, and the candiate must be open to ~50% travel. 



    The respsonsiblities of this role include, but are not limited to:

    • Provide information security technical expertise and project management to support the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Field Security Service (FSS) and Office of Cyber Security (OCS) while:
      • Facilitatiing the import of 50 Security Control Assessments (totaling 1968 discrete findings) into the VA‘s Governance, Risk, and Compliance (GRC) tool, a key component of ensuring the Authorization to Operate (ATO) process
    • Assist in management of 30+ IT professionals, interacting on a daily basis with VA FSS, OCS, and Information Technology Operations and Services (ITOPS) stakeholders enterprise-wide to ensure awareness of information system risks, identify weaknesses, and respond to and remediate vulnerabilities to Veterans’ data
      • Travel to 20+ VA medical centers and regional benefit offices, applying the VA Handbook 6500 Risk Management Framework at each to assess, document, and remediate information security issues prior to FISMA audits by the OIG, through working directly with VA FSS and OCS while:
        • Providing training and guidance to facility chief information officers (FCIOs), FSS Information Security Officers (ISOs), and their associated staff on enterprise best practices for identifying information system security weaknesses and creating workable Plans of Action and Milestones (POA&Ms)
          • Documenting new security plans for systems encompassing 12 VA facilities prior to each receiving an audit by the VA Office of Inspector General (OIG)
          • Coordinating between onsite teams (5-12 people) and remote personnel (30+ FTEs) through daily status meetings, adjusting resource allocation to quickly and satisfactorily achieve goals
          • Incorporating lessons learned on an ongoing basis into team best practices
        • Generate just-in-time briefings during two OIG FISMA audits, ensuring FCIOs and enterprise information security stakeholders were able to respond to OIG auditors’ questions
    • Create quantitative-based tools to assist VA information security partners with accurate, updated, and operational analytics to ensure compliance with the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) Cybersecurity Framework and Executive Orders while:
      • Creating and providing ongoing maintenance for the “Facility Health Check Utility”, which integrates multiple security metrics from VA’s authoritative data sources to provide near real-time situational awareness, in use by VA information security personnel (including ITOPS, FSS, and OCS) enterprise-wide


    • Degree in Computer Science, Electronics Engineering, or other engineering or technical discipline is required with 5+ years of relevant experience
    • 8 years of additional relevant experience may be substituted for education
    • Abiilty to effectively leverage vast detailed knowledge and familiarity with security disciplines
    • Ability to facilitate and coordinate efforts with key government and non-government stakeholders
    • Ability to work with minimal supervision
    • Ability to obtain a security clearance
    • Demonstrates strong quantitative, analytical and conceptual thinking skills
    • Must work well within a time sensitive environment
    • Good leadership qualities to instruct and lead other analysts
    • Frequest travel required 

     **Experience working in Federal Government environments is preferred.**
