Overview

Applied Memetics LLC (AM LLC) is seeking an Senior Applications Engineer Level II (DevOps and Infrastructure Support) to provide technical support to a Veterans Affairs program. The candidate must have a minimum of 10 years in the field, as well as excellent communication skills and a good command of the English language. 

 

Project Overview

 

The Clinical Knowledge Management (CKM) program is part of Veterans Affairs' Connected Health Office (CHO) that provides benefits and services to Veterans. A primary goal of the CHO is to design and implement user-friendly, high-quality mobile devices, software, and services for Veterans and their medical caregivers. Specifically, the CKM program ensures a seamless clinical, portfolio, architectural, and operational optimization of these mobile health applications.

Responsibilities

The Contractor shall provide engineering improvements to mobile health applications, the mobile engineering process, and the supporting infrastructure. The Contractor shall enhance, Audit, Logging, Status Services, and Dashboards to accommodate changes. 

 

Currently, it is estimated that this role would be comprised of 50% analysis, 30% dev/ops support, and 20% Java/J2EE development work.  However, because we are still early in this 2-year contract, these are conservative estimates and we foresee those percentages changing with additional development work as time goes on. 

Qualifications

Required Skills:

  • Providing cloud-based infrastructure support:
    • Experiece with Terremark (where the VA hosts its Cloud-based applications, etc.)
    • Working in an Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) environment
    • Creating/managing an Operations Dashboard and Infrastructure reporting system (e.g., Nagios)
    • Creating/managing an aggregated logging and auditing system (e.g., Syslog, Splunk, or Kafka)
    • Experience with Computer Associates (CA) Performance Managment Suite
    • Experience with CA Unified Structure Managment
    • Git, Ant/Maven, Gradle, Jenkins, Docker, experience with continuous integration

 

Preferred Skills:

  • Defining and managing an automated build and testing pipeline
  • Automated code deployment (e.g., Jenkins)
  • Automated VM configuration and deployment (e.g., Chef, Puppet, Vagrant)

 

Educational Requirements:

  • Master's degree in computer science, engineering, math or equivalent and 10 years of experience
  • 10 years of additional, relevant experience may be substituted for education

 

**Experience working in a federal government environment is preferred.**
